Mr. J started experiencing pain from osteoarthritis of the knee at the age of about 68. The pain started off mild, periodically coming and going. After about a year and a half of periodic mild pain, the pain in Mr. J’s knee started to increase and become more constant.
Within 6 months, Mr. J’s was feeling knee pain every morning and evening. The pain had started impacting his daily activities. Mr. J was having difficulty finding a comfortable position when lying down, which disrupted his sleep. He would wake up in the middle of the night in pain. Sitting for any length of time also became very painful.
Testimonial for Mr. J (written by his wife): When my husband was 68 years old he developed osteoarthritis in his knee. Over a period of about 6 months the pain got so bad he could hardly walk. He had to keep increasing the strength of his pain killers.
Then we saw an ad for Solaj Cold Laser Therapy and at this point we were willing to try anything. After about 12 – 15 treatments the pain was almost gone and he had full mobility again and no pain.Because cold laser helps the meniscus heal but can’t cure the rough bone on the knee joint caused by the osteoarthritis each 2-3 months he gets a few more treatments.
The future without cold laser was probably years of pain and loss of mobility and finally knee replacement. This is the most amazing successful treatment we highly recommend for any arthritis or injury.
At this point, Mr. J and his wife visited us at Solaj to inquire if Cold Laser Therapy could relieve Mr. J’s knee pain. During Mr. J’s assessment, it was apparent that he had osteoarthritis of the knee, and his knee was swollen and tender to touch (to learn more, visit our knee osteoarthritis page). Also, his movement was restricted, as he was unable to fully bend his knee.
Cold Laser Therapy for Osteoarthritis of the Knee
Mr. J decided to begin Cold Laser Therapy treatment for osteoarthritis of the knee immediately after his assessment, and he experienced a short-term reduction in pain following his 1st treatment. After his 3rd treatment, Mr. J was able to sleep through the entire night without being woken up by knee pain – an encouraging milestone! Following his 4th treatment, the constant ache in his knee that he had been experiencing for the past 2 years finally subsided. After 8 treatments, I had a re-evaluation with Mr. J and it was very clear that his range of motion was improving. At this point, he found himself able to sit for long periods of time again, without any pain or discomfort. At 14 treatments, he expressed that he was sleeping through most nights, with only an odd night where he was waking up due to pain. He said that he was very happy with his progress at this point, but wanted to continue treatment to see how much better his knee could get.
After 15 treatments Mr. J reported being completely pain free, and at 19 treatments it was decided between Mr. J and myself, that it would be a good idea for him to transition to maintenance treatments*. At this point, the swelling in Mr. J’s knee was reduced, it was no longer tender, and he was able to fully bend it.
Mr. J’s treatment plan for osteoarthritis of the knee, consisted of a total of 19 treatments over the period of about 12 weeks. As with most Cold Laser Therapy treatment plans, I recommended 3 treatments per week for 2 weeks, then 2 treatments per week for 2 weeks, then 1 treatment per week and continuously increasing time between treatment sessions over the next several weeks.
