What is a chiropractic adjustment?

An adjustment is a specific, therapeutic movement of one or more joints that are moving abnormally. This includes the joints in your spine, arms and legs. Your chiropractor will place their hands on the affected joint and move it in the direction that it is restricted, restoring it’s proper motion.

How do adjustments work?

Overuse, acute injuries or chronic conditions often lead to limited or abnormal motion of joints in your spine, arms and/or legs. In response to these injuries, your body lays down fibrous, dense scar tissue in the affected areas which significantly reduces blood flow and restricts proper motion, creating inflammation and pain.

Adjustments restore the normal motion of the affected joints while also improving blood circulation. The increased blood flow will deliver more of the vital nutrients to the cells, open the floodgates, allowing the cells required for the healing process to reach the injured tissues to break up the scar tissue, reduce inflammation and pain, and allow your body to heal those areas naturally.

Is it safe?

Adjustments are a very safe and effective way to alleviate musculoskeletal pain and restore proper joint motion. Because of the resulting increase in blood circulation, many people experience an increased sense of calm and healing after a chiropractic treatment.
